Remembering Europe’s
Visionary plants
a 6 week online course
29th of October - 17th of December | six wednesdays |19:00 - 21:00 CET
About the Course
In this live course we dive in with some of the most celebrated plants, trees and mushrooms in the European tradition that have been used ritualistically and ceremonially for retrieving visions and holding the bridge to the Otherworld. We will use the time between Samhain and Winter Solstice to have these Master Plants guide us into crevices of our souls that may otherwise be difficult to be reached. We will sit in ritual at every gathering and you will hear old folk tales around these themes and plants. You will learn historical uses - always grounded in archeological evidence - and more about the roles that these plants have held within communities. This is an online course, there will be no direct ingestion of these plants. Rather, you will learn ways to reclaim your ancestral skills of direct listening and reciprocity with the land, through these plant teachers.

Course Curriculum
-
In our first gathering, we are going to be reclaiming our collective ancestries by connecting to Mother Holda, the Germanic mother of the threshold mysteries - similar to the Celtic Cailleach and the Slavic Baba Yaga - and Odin, the Norse all-father.
These two deep ancestors will be our guides and keepers throughout the entirety of this series. With their blessings, we will dive in with Elder and Yew, the echoes of our ancestral threads. -
During this session we dive in with the gentle visionary plant which is Lady Mugwort. The balance between her strength and tenderness and the silvery guidance of the Moon sharpens intuition and explores the liminal spaces between sleep and waking.
Mugwort will be our guide into a conversation about animism and human supremacy, the history and culture of animism and ways of speaking and listening with other-than-human kin.
-
We confront the shadow of the feminine and reclaim the suppressed magic within. Belladonna and her nightshade kin bring us into dialogue with the dark, hidden forces—delirious, potent, and transformative. This session honours mystery, shadow, and the power that emerges when we face what has been forbidden or denied.
-
The essence in Foxglove opens the heart to vulnerability and emotional release and mending. Foxglove will guide a conversation on poison as medicine. We will discuss Wormwood and Passionflower as visionary plants in the sense of enhancing introspective states and allowing the soul to process sorrow with gentle awareness. Together, this trinity create a sacred container for mending the heart of hearts.
-
Even though the lore around this little cap is ambiguous and debated, there remains much to be explored. This session is about threshold experiences, initiation, and seeing beyond the veil with reverence and curiosity.
-
The medicine of this infamous one reaches both deep and high. Our last meeting will be a few days before the Winter Solstice, the traditional time to sit with Amanita Muscaria. We will dive deep into the lore of this one. She will be our guide to the treasure chest locked into our souls, as well as to the well ancestors on our blood lines who are offering us gifts and guidance.
